Discipleship Groups
“Discipleship is learning to know and follow Jesus
and helping others do the same.”
People say that someone’s last words carry a lot of weight. Right before Jesus left this earth to return to the Father, He gave his followers a very specific mission - “Go and Make Disciples.”
We see the “The Great Commission,” these final words from Jesus, as just that, a mandate given to believers to go and help other people learn to follow Jesus. One of the ways that we pursue this as a church is through what we call Discipleship Groups.
These gender-specific groups of 3-5 people focus on accountability, studying scripture, and obedience. The goal of these groups is different than your typical bible study. Our ultimate aim is that people who go through D-Groups can learn to know and follow Jesus and then multiply themselves and lead others through them as well. Because of the focus of these groups, the commitment level is also very high. Most groups aim to meet weekly for 4-9 months as they venture through scripture, life, and learning to follow Jesus.
If you are new to D-Group's consider checking out something new called “Trial Groups”. Trial groups are D-Groups that meet for 6-8 weeks with one of our key leaders as they model our discipleship method and approach with you for the purpose of teaching you these skills and tools for your own context. This is an easy on-ramp to feeling more comfortable to start your own group or to help connect with other people that could invite you into their existing group organically.
Consider signing up to be trained to lead a D-Group or join one of our trial groups.
